Once the fan is turned on, the metal blades begin spinning internally and as the motor comes up to speed, they overcome centrifugal force (they are spring loaded) and pop out into their working position. The outer shell & canopy are solid brass and the blades are aluminum. The globe is original and is pointed to accentuate the fan’s “chandelier” shape.
