Westinghouse Electric & Mfg. Co. 1936 10 Oscillating Fan, Tilt, 10-SQ-3, Nice
For sale is an antique WESTINGHOUSE Electric and Manufacturing Company, Springfield, Mass. Table, or desk, oscillating fan, Model 10-SQ-3. It was made in 1936, and was the earliest of the Poweraire series. It has a heavy cast iron base it will NOT accidentally tip over! , four metal fan blades, and a rugged wire cage. It was left behind in the “collection” of my late father, and has always been in a smoke-free home. The metal label on the fan has the following information. 100/120 V 60 cy. I’m guessing my dad brought the fan home from an office (the #3 stenciled on it), most likely not working. We can see that he must have replaced the original cloth-covered cord with a much heavier duty cord. We plugged it in, and the motor and fan blades run smooth and quietly. We turned on the oscillation, and that also run smoothly. The motor is single speed, and the fan cage will tilt upwards for not such a direct breeze. The fan weighs 15.6 pounds and stands 17.5 tall, base to top of cage. The fan is nice, but it is also an awesome antique display piece! Think where you would love to show off this collectible!
