This particular model represents the earliest variation of the GE Small Motor Yoke 12″ Desk Fan, distinguished by its desirable “drop ring brass guard, reminiscent of the Big Motor Yoke models. Thought to be proportionally larger than desirable, the guard was soon replaced with a shallower parallel ring brass guard. Restored within the last 100 years, this Circa 1913 SMY operates on all three speeds as originally intended. However, the blade requires balancing, and a few wires on the guard need to be tightened.
