For sale is a vintage GENERAL ELECTRIC FAN. 3 speeds – oscillating. All speeds work – oscillating works – fan speed switch is a little bit finicky but will work properly. This fan is all original and has not been restored – includes original power cord. Aluminum 12 inch blades. How nice of you to reply! Your fan uses GE’s “Quiet Blade” technology, which really did a lot to’quell the racket of the breeze blowing by’. This involved overlapping blades & alterations of the trailing edge of the blades (“wings” – you have a’four-winger’). The GE motor was atop a’stem’, or’neck’, which is very common. A GE’loop fan’ has the motor mounted within a round swivel-ring, with attachments on either side (at 3:00 & 9:00). Added o the top of that ring actually a sort of a’trunnion. Anyway, that ring is a sort of’trunnion’ (like for old cannons). Across the top GE added a “loop” on top for picking it up. The loop-fans are great & a bit heavier & more solid. Your fan will run quieter , it is a fine & solid fan. The GE “Quiet Fan” blade design was a huge break-through in domestic design & basically “saved” GE after the Depression in the mid-30’s when fan sales were in the old toiletto. The earliest GE loop fan I found in the book was 1913. They seemed to use it on different fans along the way. I woulda’ used that loop from then on, but no… They had ta’ “improve” on it. I would certainly prefer for my piece of equipment to be made with a place made for my hand to hold. That tactile, physical grip of contact cements in place a sense of actual ownership, a sense that you & that item are “on the same team” working together to make our lives better. Anyhow, I hope that this will’splain a bit’bout the fans. — Check out: “Collector’s Guide to Electric Fans” Id’s & values. Witt –Collector Books/Paducah, Kentucky. Also, check with American Fan Asso.
