This is a beautiful restored Menominee’Tab Foot’ Horizontal Table Fan- commonly nicknamed a Bank Teller Fan. The fan was introduced in 1912 as a horizontal fan to cool just above the table top up to a 10 foot diameter. It sounds like they were used in banks because they didn’t disturb the papers. There were eventually three versions of this fan by Menominee but the original Tab Foot is definitely the most stylish and desirable. The fan is 15 in tall and the cage dia is 7 inch. This Tab Foot version used complete brass blades and cage and are in beautiful condition. Later variations used Aluminum and Nickel plated blades. The cast iron body was redone in polished lacquer (original was lacquer) and new rubber feet replaced. The motor was removed, cleaned and replaced, The original fan had a red/green duplex wire to the motor. I replaced this with new wire and used it for the line chord as well. I painted the exterior steel screw heads with brass paint for appearance. This fan is rated 110 v AC or DC. It runs faster on DC so I have included a converter with a built-in rectifier to convert 120 vAC to DC. The sliding speed changer works well delivering distinct lower speeds. The unit runs smooth and strong. I also include an advertisement from 1912 describing the fan and suitable for framing. This fan is unique and beautiful and hard to find. It will be a great conversation piece. The item “Antique Menominee 1912’Tab Foot’ Bank Teller Horizontal Table Fan” is in sale since Sunday, December 2, 2018.
