General Electric 8 all-brass oscillating fan in original condition. The motor body and base are made of solid brass and the oscillator ring is cast brass or bronze with the original black oxide finish. There are no cracks in the motor body. This fan is in good condition and runs on three different speeds remaining only warm after 20 minutes. 601166, 110 volts, 60 cycles. Patent dates on motor tag are 1895, 1901, and 1903 and this is a 1912 model. The brass guard has no damage or broken wires and the brass blade is good with some very small marks on it from previous minor straightening. The gears all look to be in good condition. Fan weighs 7 pounds and measures 9″ wide, 12″ high, and 7 deep. The head wire is in very good condition; the power cord is old and serviceable but probably should be changed if you plan to use the fan. Some repairs will need to be done: The screw holding the top strut to the motor is stripped in the motor housing; there should be a different nut or shoulder screw under the oscillator disc and one screw is missing under the disc; the motor shaft needs to be shimmed some I think as the blade hub rubs slightly on the front of the motor bearing housing but does not rub when the motor is running and tilted forward. The fan oscillates a little more to one side than the other so something may be bent or an adjustment needs to be made. Please be sure to look at all photos for any details and ask any questions you may have. I have packed many fans with no damage yet.
