For sale is an extremely rare ceiling mount propeller fan made by Harry H. Knight of the Knight Gibson Co. The fan for sale here was named the Whirlwind after the engine on the Spirit of St. An image of the Whirlwind engine design is shown in the photos. This fan was modeled after the engine and propeller of the Spirit of St. Knight was very involved with designing. Knight was the patent holder of many aspects of the Spirit of St. Louis airplane design and he was a pioneer in the manufacture of propeller type fans. Another one of his propeller fan design patents from 1931 (a ceiling mount fan in the form of an airplane) is shown in the photos.
