Vintage 1931 Westinghouse Art Deco Debonair electric fan. BIG 16 blade deluxe version. Rare as hen’s teeth. RESERVE PRICE IS LOW AND ATTAINABLE, NO WORRIES. This fan was running (fully operational) perhaps a year ago. The man I bought it from was still using it in his wood shop. I tested it today and all I get is hum. Speed selector increases the hum as you switch. It wants to go but I cant get it to spin. Its been sitting now for too long. Overall its in great shape for its age. This is how it was found as you see it in the photos. That beautiful octagonal cage is is in perfect shape with no repairs and nothing broken or missing. Neck is perfect with no cracks or breaks. Only the wingnut to make adjustment has succumb to age. This is not the small common desk version, this is the monster. Blades are 16 across, cage is much larger than that. It’s a big substantial fan. I added a photo with Pepsi can for scale. Westinghouse launched this premium/expensive fan just in time for the great depression. Unfortunate timing led to it being discontinued after its first year. Owning a Debonair is owning something truly rare today. If you live east of the Mississippi it will cost less. I can/will box this in 2 separate boxes at your request. Please study all the photos below. A style that everybody immediately loves. The debonair is worth your time and attention. Please see the video at the bottom of a running Debonair. I’ll show you all around the fan. The most handsome Deco fan you could lay eyes on. Even more impressive when running. A look at the rear of the fan. As you fan collectors are sure to know, there is intentionally one bar on the cage missing in the rear to aid in blade removal. A tighter shot now. Westinghouse data plate and numbers (some have been X’d out). A look at that beautiful base. A closer look at the neck. NO cracks or breaks. The cast wingnut is half missing. The knurled brass center is perfectly intact. I will do my best not to finish this wingnut off when I pack/disassemble but no guarantees. By the way the oscillation movement (The little I can feel not running) is perfectly free – not stiff or binding. Blades by the way are perfect. Video of a running Debonair fan. C’mon you know you want it! Condition is VG+ for its age. Light wear and tear which testifies to its age and vintage. Please examine photos and ask any questions. The fan is huge and heavy…. Overseas on this item IS ACCEPTED… MODEST reserve so NO EXCUSES….. Item is described as completely and as honestly as possible. I mean this in the strongest terms possible.
