Antique vtg 1914 GE No 942263 Electric Fan Working Collar Oscillator Brass Blade
This offering is for an original antique General Electric Collar Oscillator Three Speed Electric Fan in all original and untouched condition. The tag on top states in part ALTERNATING CURRENT FAN MOTOR No. 942263 VOLTS 110 CYCLES 60 GENERAL ELECTRIC CO USA. Please note there is a second set of numbers below the set just listed that read 75423 and 01, I’m not sure of their significance. The fan features four brass blades with a brass cage and brass supports. The fan is also marked “GE” in large script on the brass tag on the front of the cage. The fan measures app. 18 in overall height to the top of the cage, the cage itself measures app. 13 in diameter and the blades measure app. The brass has not been cleaned or polished in years and we will leave the decision to do so or not to the new owner. You have to give the blades a push to get the fan running but once it gets going it runs on all three speeds with a distinct difference of speeds between them, there is a very minor wobble in the blades when it first starts but it immediately disappears. Now for the good part, the oscillator also works, although it works best on the fastest speed setting. I only let the fan run long enough to make sure it and the oscillator worked properly. Once I verified they worked I shut them both off for safety sake, my guess is it’s been years since there was any proper lubrication done and did not want to damage anything. The head cord has been taped in a couple of spots and the main cord has been replaced with a modern looking cord, if you plan on using the fan I would possibly replace both of them. The fan should have a complete cleaning and lubrication prior to your actually planning on using it. The black painted finish has some typical scattered wear notable to the back side of the motor and to the base edge rim. In short this fan is in very nice condition and if you like early fans that are in excellent original condition this one is sure to fit the bill and will make an fantastic addition to your collection!! If additional photo’s are needed or you have need of answers to questions we do not address we will be happy to supply them. WE USUALLY SEND OUR INVOICE WITHIN 1 HOUR OF THE AUCTIONS ENDING.
